USANA Health Sciences Donates $110,000 to Children's Hunger Fund

Funds Will Be Used to Purchase a New Semi Truck for Food Distribution

SALT LAKE CITY--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 17, 2007--USANA Health Sciences, Inc. (NASDAQ: USNA) announced today that it has expanded its long-standing support to a leading international charity, Children's Hunger Fund (CHF), with a $110,000 donation for the purchase and maintenance of a new semi truck for distribution of food, clothing and other critical relief aid.
As a result of USANA's donation, CHF estimates that it will be capable of distributing several million pounds of relief supplies each year, including nearly 2 million meals to needy children and families. USANA will also donate funds annually to offset the costs of operating the new truck, and the company will continue its existing sponsorship of a second truck in CHF's fleet.
"Much of the challenge in serving the needs of poor children is in transportation. We can garner donations from sources all over the country, but if we can't get it to where it's needed, we are simply missing the opportunity," Children's Hunger Fund President Dave Phillips explained. "USANA has become a highly valued corporate partner to CHF, allowing us to reach thousands of needy children each month through their generous support. USANA's decision to support CHF in this way will increase our efficiency and our ability to feed the needy across America and around the world. For that we are extremely grateful."
USANA, a direct sales manufacturer of nutritional and personal-care products, and its thousands of independent distributors have donated more than $4.4 million in cash and products to CHF since 2001. These donations have helped the charity provide thousands of children around the world with daily allotments of Usanimals(TM), USANA's daily nutritional supplement for children, and support numerous families with weekly donations of food and other necessities.
USANA Founder Dr. Myron Wentz has also partnered with CHF to personally fund the construction of two state-of-the-art medical centers. The Wentz Medical Center in Ggaba , Uganda opened its doors in 2005 and now provides diagnostic and preventative care to more than 600 people each month. A second Wentz Medical Center in Cambodia is slated to open this fall.
USANA selected CHF as its charitable partner because of its well-established efficiency, accountability, and integrity. CHF has received national acclaim for being one of the most cost-effective non-profits based in the United States , with more than 99 cents of every dollar going directly to care for the needs of children. In Forbes magazine's 2007 charitable investment guide, CHF was a top-rated charity with 100 percent ratings in all three of Forbes' efficiency ratios. The charity is able to keep its overhead costs low, in part, by soliciting donations of food and other relief supplies from U.S. corporate partners and delivering the donations through a monitored network of ministries. CHF has established partnerships with a wide array of companies including USANA, Dole, Ty Inc., Rite Aid and Del Monte.
"USANA is dedicated to providing opportunities for health and financial stability not only to our distributors and employees, but also to the greater global community," said Mark Wilson , USANA executive vice president of customer relations. "Through a lasting partnership with an exceptional organization like Children's Hunger Fund, USANA has been able to bring real change to people's lives as part of our broader corporate and social responsibility commitment. We are pleased by what we have already accomplished in the fight against childhood hunger, and we look forward to continuing to do our part to help make this world a healthier, happier place for future generations."

USANA Receives GMP Registration and Dietary Supplement Certification Through NSF International

News Release
SALT LAKE CITY--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 2, 2007--USANA Health Sciences, Inc. (NASDAQ: USNA) recently completed a successful audit of its manufacturing facilities by NSF International as part of NSF's Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) Registration program.
USANA voluntarily obtained NSF's third-party validation of its manufacturing facility in the first quarter of 2007. NSF conducted an initial USANA plant audit to verify compliance with its GMP program last year and will continue to conduct semi-annual audits at the company's facility. GMP provide guidelines that cover virtually every aspect of manufacturing, including facility design and maintenance, raw material specification and control, supplier validation, product design and testing, employee training, process control, finished product release and complaint handling. These guidelines help ensure that manufactured products have the identity, strength, composition, quality and purity that they are represented to possess.
According to NSF, "GMP registration reflects (a) continued commitment to ensuring quality and satisfaction and gives companies confidence that their organization operates in conformance to established GMP."
USANA took its certification a step further by also asking NSF to certify its core nutritional products, the Essentials(TM) (Mega Antioxidant and Chelated Mineral), Proflavanol(R) 90, Active Calcium(TM), and HealthPak 100(TM). NSF conducted product testing in its own accredited laboratories to ensure that all of the USANA supplements tested matched labeled amounts, that there were no product ingredients not openly disclosed on the label, and that there were no unacceptable levels of contaminants in the product. USANA successfully met all of these requirements and received NSF dietary supplement certification.
According to Dr. John Cuomo, USANA's Executive Director of Research & Development, the decision to seek out NSF certification is part of USANA's uncompromising commitment to producing high-quality, science-based products. "For years, USANA has led the industry in safety and quality," Dr. Cuomo said. "We have made a commitment to our customers that USANA's quality and manufacturing will be modeled after the strict standards associated with the pharmaceutical industry, and not the less stringent food standards that most supplement manufacturers follow. Our recent NSF certifications--along with other rigorous, third-party audits--offer additional assurance to our customers that USANA provides Nutritionals You Can Trust."
